Physics Behind Crop Circle Secrets Examined

As the global crop-circle phenomenon grows alongside advances in science and technology, Taylor notes how physics and the arts are coming together to produce more impressive and spectacular crop-circle patterns that still manage to maintain their mystery.

Today's crop-circle designs are more complex than ever, with some featuring up to 2000 different shapes. Mathematical analysis has revealed the use of constructions lines, invisible to the eye, that are used to design the patterns, although exactly how crop circles are created remains an open question.

According to Taylor, physics could potentially hold the answer, with crop-circle artists possibly using the Global Positioning System (GPS) as well as lasers and microwaves to create their patterns, dispensing with the rope, planks of wood and bar stools that have traditionally been used.

Microwaves, Taylor suggests, could be used to make crop stalks fall over and cool in a horizontal position – a technique that could explain the speed and efficiency of the artists and the incredible detail that some crop circles exhibit.

Indeed, one research team claims to be able to reproduce the intricate damage inflicted on crops using a handheld magnetron, readily available from microwave ovens, and a 12 V battery.

As Taylor writes, "Crop-circle artists are not going to give up their secrets easily. This summer, unknown artists will venture into the countryside close to your homes and carry out their craft, safe in the knowledge that they are continuing the legacy of the most science-oriented art movement in history."

Matin Durrani, Editor of Physics World, says, "It may seem odd for a physicist such as Taylor to be studying crop circles, but then he is merely trying to act like any good scientist – examining the evidence for the design and construction of crop circles without getting carried away by the side-show of UFOs, hoaxes and aliens."

Surge in Satanism sparks call for more exorcists

A SURGE in Satanism, facilitated by the internet, has led to a sharp rise in the demand for exorcists, the Roman Catholic Church has warned.

Fr Gabriele Amorth, the Vatican's chief exorcist, also claimed that sex abuse scandals involving the Catholic Church were proof that Satan was "waging a war against the Holy See". The internet has made it easier than ever to access information on Devil-worshipping and the occult, experts said.Exorcism is the subject of a six-day conference being held this week at the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical University in Rome, which is under the Vatican's authority.
"The internet makes it much easier than in the past to find information about Satanism," said Carlo Climati, a member of the university who specializes in Satanism and young people. "In just a few minutes you can contact Satanist groups and research occultism. "The conference is not about how to become an exorcist, it's to share information about exorcism, Satanism and sects. There is a particular risk for young people who are in difficulties or who are emotionally fragile," he said. The object of the seminars was to scrutinize Satanism with "seriousness and scientific rigor", avoiding a "superficial or sensational approach", he added. The conference in Rome has brought together more than 60 Catholic clergy as well as doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, and teachers. In theory, any priest can perform an exorcism -- a rite involving prayers to drive the Devil out of the person said to be possessed. But Vatican officials said three years ago that parish priests should call in professional exorcists if they suspected a parishioner needed purging of evil. An exorcist should be called when "the moral certainty has been reached that the person is possessed", said the Fr Gabriele Nanni, a member of the Vatican's congregation for the causes of saints. He said that the indications could include radical and disturbing changes in the person's behavior and voice, or an ability to garble in foreign languages or nonsensical gibberish.
Fr Gabriele Amorth said people who are possessed by Satan vomit shards of glass and pieces of iron, scream, dribble and slobber. He added that Pope Benedict XVI believed "wholeheartedly" in the practice of exorcism. ( © Daily Telegraph, London)

It is indeed odd that the push for replacement is a black man named Peter. Cardinal Peter being Peter the Roman, from the prophecy of St. Malachy. This would suggest yet another fulfillment of the prophecy, but in this case, the final pope resides over the people who will go through Armageddon as described in the Revelations.

A Bottomless Pit on Earth

Mel Waters formerly lived nine miles outside Ellensburg, Washington, and claimed that he had found a geographical anomaly—basically, a bottomless pit. Supposedly, Waters determined that the hole went on for more than fifteen miles, which he estimated after spooling out 18 reels of fishing line (tied end on end) into it. Moreover, he told the story of a man "who dropped the remains of his deceased dog's body down the hole," only to then see his same dog shortly thereafter.

While there are aspects of Mel's stories that seem farfetched or fabricated, several other people have claimed to have seen the hole as well; yet surprisingly, not one has been able to pinpoint its exact location. The general area it's said to lie in is nearby the Yakima Training Center—a military base—making access difficult. Thus, it's time that we really investigate Mel's Hole and get to the "bottom" of it.
