Puzzled by the “alien patterns” in a wheat field in the Republic of Adygea earlier this week, local residents sent a drone to investigate the series of mysterious crop circles. Meanwhile similar shapes have also surfaced in the Moscow region.
Amazing aerial footage shot from a drone, shows the six rings found in a regular field of crops in the foothills of the Western Caucasus Mountains. The largest in a series of circles is 13 meters (42 feet) in diameter. The biggest two circles also had strange half a meter deep “craters” in their centers.
The crop pattern was discovered on Tuesday by a local farmer, who claimed the circles were not there the night before. Because of the high winds, aerial footage was out of the question at the time of the discovery.
Similar circles were discovered in the region three times over the past 15 years, making it one of the top UFO enthusiast attractions. Popular explanations cite “aliens” and “electromagnetic radiation” as possible causes. Those who don’t believe in extraterrestrial creatures say the circles are man-made.
These are exactly the theories Ufologists are now checking in the Moscow region, where two large oval geometrical shapes and a 10-meter-wide circle were discovered in the village of Mirny.
Volunteers now plan to take soil samples, hoping to determine the origin of the geometrical shapes. The local administration believes the oval shapes could be the remnants of an old abandoned road that was once in the area. The circle however remains a mystery.
A farmer in Russia’s southern Republic of Adygea woke up to find his very own crop circles. No one understands how the six perfect formations, measuring 7-13 meters in diameter got there, and security reports seeing nothing during the night.
Two of the biggest circles contain a pierced hole about half a meter deep. The four circles nearby are smaller, but contain a small perfectly-shaped island of left-over wheat at the center.
"Even around 22:00 the day before yesterday, nothing was there. They were up the following morning,” Sergey Anisimov told the Maykop City Portal on Monday. “None of my security guys saw who could have done it, and how, so there is no one to give credit to.”
Crop circles have been seen by humans for several centuries now, but their complexity and frequency increased since the 1970s, with the United Kingdom considered a particularly spooky place, as the formations emerged near ancient cultural heritage sites. A particularly mysterious case took place in Australia when a farmer in the town of Tully reported seeing a bright light in the sky the night before huge circles were found in freshwater lagoons near his farm.
Anisimov remains intrigued. The farmer wanted to photograph the patterns from above, but strong winds prevented him from doing so on Sunday.

It’s barely visible from the road, but a crop circle that appeared in a field off Old Gray Station Road is unmistakable from above.
What created the circular pattern in the hay field is unknown, but a long-time crop circle researcher in Massachusetts hopes to be able to look at samples she’s requested from the man who photographed it and said she might be able to determine if the circle was produced by an energy force or if it’s man-made.
“I asked them to take some samples for me,” said Nancy Talbott, one of the three founders of BLT Research Team, Inc., a crop circle research group. “We haven’t had a lot of background with hay (but) I can usually tell by a few (plant) examples if the circle is real.” BLT stands for the last names of the three who created the research company: John Burke, William Levengood and Talbott. Burke, a New York businessman and Talbott, a music producer with some research background, helped gather the data that Levengood, a biophysicist, used to make findings about the mysterious circles.
The location is the exact field where a crop circle was found two years ago around the same time of year. Talbott said it’s possible the energy that creates non-man-made crop circles is drawn to certain earth features such as limestone under the soil or a nearby water supply. Crop circles found in Europe are often located in areas where there are chalk deposits underground.
Talbott said research has shown a crop circle that is not man-made exhibits changes to the plants inside the circle when compared to the same type of plants outside the circle but from the same field. Talbott began investigating and researching crop circles about 25 years ago when she read an article about them appearing in fields in Europe, she said in a phone interview this week.
“Our interest was to find out what sort of energy might be responsible for causing these. I organized field teams around the world because they were starting to be reported around the world. We discovered changes that occurred regardless of what country they were in, the same basic changes were found consistently in sample plants from inside the circle compared to control samples from outside the circle,” Talbott said.
Researchers determined the plants inside the crop circles were exposed to “very brief bursts of intense radiation; — microseconds — and we believe it’s microwave radiation,” she said. According to Talbott, the radiation “turns the moisture inside the plant stems into steam and the steam then expands.”
That expansion, and the build up of steam, “blows a hole in the lower stem nodes,” which are tougher material. In the top nodes of the plant, which are more pliable, the stem stretches and often bends, Talbott said.
The research results indicate that when the findings show the plant node changes, “it’s not mechanical pressure,” that caused the circle, Talbott said. “It wasn't something that landed there.”
BLT’s research goes much further to explain the burst of energy as well as changes in the soil that include magnetic materials only visible under a microscope and changes to seed from seed crops where circles have been found.
Talbott said there have been numerous misrepresentations about crop circles and what creates them, but documented and published research is available to debunk the myths.
“If aliens exist — and how could there not be life forms out there? — some of them may come here periodically. The idea that the media has kept on pushing, which is so harmful, is if there are alien creatures, is they are war-like like we are. There’s an assumption that lifeforms from somewhere else would be like us,” Talbott said “Some may be, some may not be. It could be the plasma (energy) is being directed toward the surface of the earth just to get our attention, like a calling card. It doesn’t have to be a threatening, hostile aggressive (act).”

A police officer contacted British UFO experts after seeing three aliens examining a freshly made crop circle near Avebury, Wiltshire.
The sergeant, who has not been named, was off-duty when he saw the figures standing in a field near Silbury Hill, and stopped his car to investigate.
However, as he approached the 'men' – all over 6ft tall with blond hair – he heard "the sound of static electricity" and the trio ran away ''faster than any man he had ever seen''.
The officer returned to his home in Marlborough, Wiltshire, and contacted paranormal experts and told them he had spotted a UFO.
Wiltshire Police has refused to comment on the incident, saying it is a ''personal matter'' for the officer involved.
Crop circle researcher Andrew Russell, who is investigating the bizarre sighting on behalf of the officer, described the moment his sighting was made.
He said: ''At first he thought they were forensic officers as they were dressed in white coveralls. He stopped his car and approached the field.
''The figures were all over 6ft and had blond hair. They seemed to be inspecting the crop. When he got to the edge of the field he heard what he believed to be a sound not dissimilar to static electricity.
''This crackling noise seemed to be running through the field and the crop was moving gently, close to where the noise was.
''He shouted to the figures who, at first, ignored him, not glancing at him. When he tried to enter the field they looked up and began running.
''He said; 'They ran faster than any man I have ever seen. I'm no slouch but they were moving so fast. I looked away for a second and when I looked back they were gone.
''I then got scared. The noise was still around but I got an uneasy feeling and headed for the car. For the rest of the day I had a pounding headache I couldn't shift.''
The bizarre incident occurred on the morning of July 6 this year as the police officer was driving.
The officer claims the three figures were examining a crop circle, which had appeared several days earlier, when he stopped his car and began walking towards them.
However, the mysterious beings disappeared when he ''looked away for a second'' and he contacted UFO experts after witnessing other paranormal activity.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: ''The police officer was apparently off duty when this happened so we have no comment to make because it is a personal not a police matter.''
Crop circle expert Colin Andrews, who investigated the incident alongside Andrew Russell, said he is ''convinced'' by the police officer's story.
He said: ''I am quite convinced the officer had an experience that day and one that we have not fully explored.
''I think with the unusual movement of the being and the poltergeist experiences there is too much additional information to say that is something in nothing.''

The artifact pictured left is a pamphlet dated August 22, 1678, entitled The Mowing-Devil: Or Strange NEWS out of Hertford-shire. It takes the form of a primitive news report, which started life as a woodcut – a type of early printing plate created by carving into a wooden block and then inking it.
The image depicts a demon, scythe in hand, felling crop stems in what seems like a systematic fashion. The accompanying text reads:
Being a True Relation of a Farmer, who Bargaining with a Poor Mower, about the Cutting down Three Half Acres of Oats; upon the Mower's asking too much, the Farmer swore That the Devil should Mow it rather than He: And so it fell out, that very Night, the Crop of Oats shew'd as if it had been all of a flame; but next Morning appear'd so neatly Mow'd by the Devil, or some Infernal Spirit, that no Mortal Man was able to do the like.
Also, How the said Oats ly now in the Field, and the Owner has not Power to fetch them away.
