In this in depth retrospective I tell the story of Tobe Hooper's 1979 vampire epic "Salem's Lot", based on the novel by Stephen King. I delve deep into its development, production and legacy while providing my own thoughts on the miniseries. Starring: David Soul, James Mason, Lance Kerwin, Bonnie Bedelia, Lou Ayers, Ed Flanders and and Reggie Nalder. Written by Paul Monash and produced by Richard Kobritz. Copyright Warner Bros. Television.
"Salem's Lot"(1979) is one of the best Vampire horror movies of all time, and the most scariest of them in my opinion.
A re-make of Salem's Lot is scheduled for September 9, 2022. The cast has been announced.

In late 1983, Don Decker, an unemployed 20 year old, was released from the local jail to attend his grandfather's funeral. He had lived with him, and after the burial he was taken in by a family on Ann Street in Stroudsburg.
Young Don didn't have many talents, but the one he did have was a doozy. "I can make it rain," he told police officers. Could he ever - in his home, in jail, in front of friends, strangers, and the police. At his whim, jets of water would rain down from no apparent source. He also could drop the temperature of a room to freezing cold in a heartbeat.
Some of the splashdowns were witnessed and verified by the local gendarmes, including Stroud Area Regional Police Chief John Baujan and former Stroudsburg cop Richard Wolbert.
A friend of his, Pam Scarfano, tried to get him under control by putting a crucifix around his neck. It left a burn mark on him before he could tear it off. Then, a year to the day after his grandfather's death, the rainmaker suddenly lost his power.
Parapsychologists still haven't figured out the cause of his short-lived ability to call down rain.

The truth is out there -- outside Vancouver that is. Past the limits of the Canadian city, further into British Columbia and about an hour from the town of Kamloops, “The X-Files” crew is busy at work snapping up exterior shots of a sizable UFO crash site for the Fox reboot.
According to the Vancouver Sun, part-time acting coach Gareth Smart caught the alien invasion in action as “The X-Files” team filmed in Cache Creek.
There are spoilers ahead for any “X-Files” purist, but be prepared for the series to bring in the aliens. The Sun reports that the scenes filmed in Cache Creek have been filmed at nighttime and Vancouver likely standing in for the New Mexico town of Roswell.
Smart posted more photos of the picturesque locale on his Facebook page. "It's my understanding that they are filming a whole whack of stuff at night," he told The Vancouver Sun. Smart added that “The X-Files” crews working in the remote British Columbia area were also staying nearby.
Vancouver was the mothership film set for “The X-Files” during its first five seasons. The show went off the air after nine seasons back in 2002. The miniseries event will reunite the famous FBI paranormal investigators Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) for the first time since the big screen spin-off, “The X-Files: I Want To Believe.”
When filming began on June 8 both “X-Files” stars Anderson and Duchovny started to share their own snapshots from the set. The pair behind Mulder and Scully were busy posting pictures of their scripts, chairs and different work mundanities to their social media accounts. Even the show’s official Twitter account joined in on the viral party.
Precious little outside the cast and crew's Twitter timeline is known so far. Fans still have questions about where the series taking the couple’s story next. But before filming began on “The X-Files” reboot, Duchovny struck down dating rumors that were swirling about the two stars.
“The X-Files” is set to premiere in a six-episode special beginning Jan. 24, 2016 on Fox.

The Exorcist changed the game for horror movies when it opened to record-breaking numbers back in 1973.
In a pre-Spielberg and Star Wars era, director William Friedkin’s adaptation of William Peter Blatty’s novel became a true cultural phenomenon, earning $440 million in 1973 money (more than $2 billion in adjusted currency).
I've located some film history that a YouTube user has uploaded. The 2 recordings are a very interesting look at that time of history. People of that time were not desensitized as this generation is against violence and horror type films. They seemed a much more innocent population, and a more innocent time in history. People stood in long lines in all types of weather without complaint for their turn to watch this horror film.
People were sitting on the floor playing cards in the theater lobby as well in their wait. Its very interesting to watch the mindset of the people of that time.
In the months following, there was a notable rise in church attendance.

The Cultural Impact of the Exorcist 1973
An amazing amount of people fainted, could not watch the entire film, and were left shaking and even crying as they exited the theater. It is believed the reason the Exorcist was so scary was that the movie was based in reality, and people believe that demonic possession can and does occur. The people of 1973 appear to be a much more God-fearing people than those of today.
